Emeka Adeile has joined Burton Albion on loan from Utrecht, the club confirmed on Sunday morning.
The move was announced on the final day of the summer transfer window, with Adeile travelling to the Pirelli Stadium to complete his registration and undergo a medical.
Adeile, 18, arrives in Staffordshire with plenty of promise, having come through the youth ranks at Utrecht before making a handful of senior appearances for the Dutch side.
He signs as a defender and will provide additional cover across the back line for Burton manager Jon McCarthy, who has been prioritising defensive reinforcements during the off-season.
The loan deal runs for the duration of the current season, with an option for Burton to extend should the move prove successful.
Adeile is expected to feature in and around the first-team squad immediately, with the club confirming he will be assessed by the coaching staff over the coming days.
He becomes Burton's sixth signing of the summer window, adding depth to a squad aiming to push up the EFL table following their relegation from League One last season.
Utrecht confirmed the loan in a brief statement, thanking Adeile for his contribution and wishing him well during his spell in England.
Burton sporting director David Sharpe praised the young defender's potential during a press conference, stating that Adeile represents the kind of talent the club is targeting.
The player himself expressed excitement about the opportunity to gain regular senior football, describing the move as a chance to develop his game in a competitive environment.
Adeile is set to train with his new teammates for the first time on Monday morning, with a view to being available for selection in Burton's opening fixture later this week.

The club confirmed that Adeile will wear the number 18 shirt for the duration of his loan spell at the Pirelli Stadium.
