FC Porto edge Arouca in Porto to stay top of the table

FC Porto moved three games clear at the top of the Primeira Liga with a comfortable 2-0 victory over visiting Arouca at the Estádio do Dragão. The hosts, coached by Francesco Farioli in a 4-3-3 setup, kept a clean sheet against a stubborn Arouca side that lined up in a 4-2-3-1 under Vasco Seabra. The deadlock was broken in the 67th minute when G. Veiga slotted home, with William Gomes providing the assist. Arouca, pushing for a reply, found themselves caught on the counter in the 86th minute as B. Sainz doubled the lead, this time with Pepe pulling the strings from the free-kick. The hosts weathered late pressure and were awarded a yellow card in the 83rd minute when Hwang In-Beom was cautioned by referee J. Pinheiro. Despite the late booking, Porto controlled the closing stages to preserve the clean sheet and move onto nine points from three matches. Arouca, meanwhile, remain mid-table on six points after their second defeat of the campaign. The result keeps the pressure on the chasing pack, with FC Porto now three points clear at the summit after Matchday 3.
