Galatasaray complete signing of midfielder Alexey from Lokomotiv
The 20-year-old Russia international joins the Turkish side in a transfer deal.

Galatasaray have moved to strengthen their midfield options by completing the signing of Alexey from Lokomotiv. The deal was finalised on 19 August 2026, with the Turkish club securing the services of the 20-year-old midfielder.
Alexey, who has represented Russia at youth level, underwent a medical earlier this week before putting pen to paper on a contract with the Istanbul-based side. He will wear the number eight shirt for his new club.
The transfer sees Alexey leave Lokomotiv after several seasons in the Russian capital. His departure had been expected following Lokomotiv's decision to offload several players during the summer window.

Galatasaray confirmed the signing through their official channels, describing the move as part of their broader recruitment strategy under the current technical staff. The club has been active in the market, seeking to reinforce key areas ahead of the new campaign.
For Alexey, the move represents a significant step up in his career. The midfielder, who came through Lokomotiv's academy system, has made a number of appearances for the Russian Premier League side but was deemed surplus to requirements following a change in management.
The transfer fee remains undisclosed, with both clubs declining to comment on financial terms. Lokomotiv confirmed the sale through a brief statement on their website, thanking the player for his contributions and wishing him well in Turkey.
Alexey is expected to be introduced to the media later this week, where he will be handed the number eight jersey. He is likely to compete for a place in Galatasaray's midfield alongside several established performers.
The signing adds further depth to a position that has been prioritised by the coaching team. Galatasaray begin their new season with fixtures against several top-tier opponents, and the addition of Alexey provides additional options.
This is Galatasaray's fourth outfield signing of the summer, reflecting their intent to challenge across domestic and European competitions. The club finished outside the top positions last season and are determined to improve under continued leadership.
Alexey's agent confirmed earlier in the day that personal terms had been agreed, clearing the way for the medical. The player himself expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, though he acknowledged the challenge of adapting to a new environment.
Galatasaray supporters will be hoping the young midfielder can make an immediate impact, particularly in the absence of several regulars who remain unavailable due to injury and international duty.
