Malaga Held at Home by Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga Opener
P. Aubameyang and Chupe exchanged goals in the first half as Malaga were held to a 1-1 draw at La Rosaleda.
Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna opened their La Liga campaigns with a tightly contested 1-1 draw at La Rosaleda on Sunday evening.
The home side, managed by Juan Funes in a 4-2-3-1 formation, saw early pressure rewarded when P. Aubameyang gave visitors Deportivo La Coruna the lead in the 21st minute. The goal came courtesy of a precise cross from Cruz Luismi, who set up Aubameyang to slot home and send the traveling supporters into celebration.
However, Malaga responded swiftly. Just thirteen minutes later, Chupe converted from the penalty spot to level the scores. The home crowd breathed a sigh of relief as the match entered halftime locked at 1-1.
