Marseille began their Ligue 1 campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Strasbourg at the CEPAC Vélodrome, asserting their authority early and maintaining pressure throughout.

Gouiri doubled Marseille's lead from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, converting coolly to extend the advantage. Strasbourg, already struggling, saw S. El Mourabet shown a straight red card in the 59th minute, leaving them with ten men for the final half hour.

Despite being reduced to ten, Strasbourg managed to keep the scoreline respectable until K. Abdallah scored in the 89th minute, adding further misery for the visitors. The goal sparked late drama as P. Hojbjerg sealed the result with a strike in stoppage time at 90+6'.

Strasbourg's discipline faltered further with yellow cards for S. Amo-Ameyaw in the 48th minute and S. Mara in the 61st. Marseille's N. Aguerd picked up a late yellow in the 79th minute but otherwise had little cause for concern.

Referee Ruddy Buquet oversaw the match, which saw both sides deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation under coaches Bruno Genesio for Marseille and Hugo Oliveira for Strasbourg.

The win sets a strong tone for Marseille's season, while Strasbourg will reflect on a difficult away opener marked by defensive lapses and indiscipline.
