Platense Comeback Snatches Victory Over Barracas Central

Late goals from Retamar and Gimenez secure a 2-1 win for Platense in Barracas.

Platense snatched a dramatic late victory over Barracas Central with two second-half goals, overcoming a first-half deficit to win 2-1 at Estadio Claudio Chiqui Tapia in the Liga Profesional Argentina Clausura 6.

The home side struck first in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot, with I. Tapia converting to give Barracas Central a 1-0 lead at the break.

The match was heated from the start, with M. Mendia picking up an early yellow card for Platense in the 17th minute. Barracas Central added to their disciplinary issues before halftime, with N. Briasco and N. Demartini both receiving cautions.

Platense pulled level in the 59th minute when K. Retamar found the net, assisted by F. Zapiola, setting up a tense finale.

The visitors completed their comeback in the 90th minute, with L. Gimenez scoring the winner, assisted by B. Merlini, to seal all three points.

Barracas Central continued to pick up bookings in the second half, with K. Jappert and I. Tapia both receiving yellow cards as the home side pushed for a winner.

The result leaves Platense in seventh place in Clausura Group A on eight points after six matches, while Barracas Central sit sixth in Clausura Group B on nine points.

Referee Hernan Mastrangelo brought the match to a close, with coaches Martin Palermo (Platense) and Damian Ayude (Barracas Central) seeing their tactical battle end in dramatic fashion.
