A late goal from C. Adams gave Torino hope, but AC Milan held on to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory in the opening round of Serie A.
In a tightly contested Serie A opener at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, AC Milan emerged with a 2-1 victory thanks to a dramatic late winner from C. Adams, despite a spirited comeback attempt from the hosts.
The match began goalless, with both sides creating chances but failing to break the deadlock before halftime. Torino, playing under Ignazio Abate in a 3-4-2-1 formation, looked to impose their home advantage, while AC Milan, managed by Ruben Amorim in the same tactical setup, remained organized at the back.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 64th minute when A. Cisse found the net for AC Milan, capitalizing on a precise assist from A. Rabiot. Just two minutes later, Rabiot doubled the visitors' lead, slotting home after a dangerous delivery from S. Chukwueze, leaving Torino searching for a response.
Torino pulled one back in the 93rd minute through C. Adams, who converted from close range after a well-worked move involving G. Gineitis. The goal injected late drama into the contest, but despite their push for an equalizer, the home side could not find a second.
The result marked a winning start for AC Milan under Amorim, lifting them to fourth in the early Serie A table with three points. Torino, meanwhile, remained grounded in 15th place following the narrow defeat at home.
Referee Luca Zufferli kept a firm hand on proceedings, issuing a single yellow card in the second half to AC Milan's R. Loftus-Cheek in the 52nd minute. The match was otherwise played in a largely fair spirit, with both coaches making tactical adjustments throughout.
