The second half began with Genk taking the initiative, as R. Durosinmi scored in the 48th minute, again set up by J. Erenbjerg. However, Antwerp were not to be outdone, with E. Tuypens pulling one back in the 80th minute after a cross from T. Somers.

With just four minutes remaining, Antwerp's hopes seemed dashed when M. Frey converted a penalty to restore their lead. But Genk pushed forward and in the 88th minute, Frey—playing for Antwerp—scored again, this time assisted by C. Mejia, ensuring a dramatic finale.

The action was intense throughout, with Antwerp's M. Compper earning a yellow card in the 36th minute, while Genk's D. Heymans and I. Bangoura received cautions in the closing stages.

Both coaches made their presence felt, with Antwerp's Marvin Compper and Genk's Jess Thorup overseeing their respective teams' efforts in a match that lived up to its billing as a Regular Season - 3 encounter.

Referee Jasper Vergoote had little choice but to allow the game to flow, as both sides created numerous chances in a contest that ultimately delivered an entertaining conclusion.

Following this result, Antwerp sit in third place in the Pro League table with seven points from three games, while Genk remain eighth with four points each.
