Lommel United delivered a commanding performance at the Soevereinstadion, defeating KVC Westerlo 4-0 in a Jupiler Pro League clash that will boost their early-season confidence.
The hosts got off to a strong start with two goals before halftime. T. Reyners opened the scoring in the 30th minute, capitalising on a precise assist from J. van Duiven. Just before the break, in the 45th minute plus four, L. Schoofs doubled the lead, again set up by Van Duiven, leaving Westerlo struggling to respond.
The second half saw Lommel continue their dominance. D. Konadu added the third goal in the 51st minute, benefiting from a clever pass by S. Appuah. The home side maintained pressure throughout, and their efforts paid off late in the game when T. Reyners struck again in the 89th minute, rounding off a well-worked move assisted by Van Duiven.
Despite the heavy defeat, neither side managed to find the back of the net through open play in the latter stages, with Westerlo failing to mount a meaningful response. The result leaves both teams in the lower half of the table after two matches.
Referee Bert Verbeke of the Netherlands oversaw the contest, which ended without any disciplinary incidents to report.
In the table, Lommel United sit 13th with one point from two games, while KVC Westerlo remain bottom with no points after two outings.
