Houston, sitting top of the Western Conference before kickoff, pushed forward in search of an equaliser. Their efforts paid off in the 75th minute when I. Aliyu pulled one back, keeping the visitors very much in the contest.

The game opened up in the final 20 minutes. Just ten minutes after Houston’s goal, St. Louis doubled their advantage through D. Polvara, who finished calmly to restore the cushion for the hosts.

The closing stages were feisty and physical. St. Louis midfielder C. Holse was booked in the 70th minute, while Houston’s Lucas Halter followed in the 81st. A late flurry saw T. Totland pick up a yellow card in stoppage time as tensions rose.

Referee Alexis Da Silva kept a tight rein on proceedings, with seven bookings handed out across the 90 minutes. The disciplined display from the officials prevented the match from boiling over despite the competitive nature of the fixture.

For St. Louis, the win lifts them to sixth in the Western Conference on 30 points from 20 games. Houston, meanwhile, remain top of the table but will rue a missed opportunity to pull away from the chasing pack.

Both sides showed resilience, but it was the home crowd’s energy that proved decisive. With three points secured, St. Louis head into their next fixture with renewed momentum, while Houston must regroup quickly ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
